When fishing with a spinning rod, you may encounter a situation that does not allow you to cast off the side of the body that is holding the reel, like sharing the bow of the boat with another angler. In such situations, it is easier to cast backhanded or with the tip of the rod on the left side of your body if you are a right handed caster.
